Ellen Interlandi

Ellen Interlandi has more than 30 years of diverse leadership experience as demonstrated by roles in institutional, community, association and consultant settings; demonstrated fiscal and quality management; and strong CMS and Joint Commission survey experience. Her ability to energize work teams through strong communication skills with all stakeholders has a proven her to be a successful change agent in difficult environments. She has had many years of operational responsibility for Nurse Executive practice, Women’s Health, Critical Care, Peri-operative, Emergency and Ancillary Services. In her consulting practice, she specializes in providing interim leadership, service line management, staffing and operations efficiency, patient safety initiatives, and leading cultural change
Some of her leadership and consulting experiences include:
Providing permanent and interim executive leadership in for-profit and not-for profit hospital settings.
Successfully opening up the first free-standing Women’s Hospital in New Mexico, combining cultures of closed physician/staff/health plan and open community physician hospital model to create a center of excellence.
Developing front line managers in the fundamentals of unit operations and resource management.
Facilitating, coordinating and implementing patient throughput and capacity management through interdepartmental collaboration among Hospital Administration, Nursing Administration, Admitting and Business Services, Emergency/Transport Services and physician stakeholders.
Designing and implementing systems to manage flexible staffing resources, including internal and contractual staff.
• Developing a Patient Safety Initiative for the New Mexico Hospital Association that
o Supports existing patient safety activities in hospitals
o Determines and published best practices
o Develops tools and resources for hospitals, including continuing education
o Promotes targeted, short-term statewide patient safety practice improvements
Ellen received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Rush University, Chicago, Illinois, and her Master of Health Management degree from St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Literature from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois.
She has lectured on Patient Safety and Just Culture. She is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and on the Board of the New Mexico Center for Nursing Excellence and the New Mexico Organization of Nurse Executives.
